Students trained in the Floral Design Pathway will develop an overview of floral industry fundamentals and applications. Upon completion of the pathway requirements, students will have the basic working knowledge of plant identification, plant physiology, soil science, and floriculture. Students successfully completing the program requirements will be able to explain plant systems, nutrient transportation, energy storage, and apply basic design principles. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and application of ornamental plant nutrient practices, equipment, and safety in the workplace in order to handle, prepare, cut and arrange flowers appropriately. The students will have the capability to pursue a career with continued specialized training. Further post-secondary education/training is highly recommended.
