California Healthy Kids Survey
The California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) is a modular, anonymous assessment administered online and
recommended for students in grades 5, 7, 9, and 11.
It is focused on the five most important areas for guiding school and student improvement:
- student connectedness, learning engagement/motivation, and attendance;
- tobacco, alcohol and drug use and attitude;
- school climate, culture, and conditions;
- school safety, including violence perpetration and victimization/bullying;
- physical and mental well-being and social-emotional learning; and
student supports, including resilience-promoting developmental factors (caring relationships, high expectations, and meaningful participation).
We will begin surveying our students for the California Healthy Kids Survey at the start of February 2024.
Your student's participation is voluntary, but greatly appreciated.
If you are the parent of a 5th grade student in our district, you will be receiving a consent form via your provided email.
All other grade levels are implied consent; please let your school site administrator know if you would like to opt out your student of participation.
It is our goal to have a 95% participation rate so that we can get an accurate representation of our students' voice.
This data is used to help create site goals, safety plans and drive District initiatives. We appreciate your support and hope that you will take time to complete the parent survey that will come to you in February as well.
