Public Safety
Students trained in the Public Safety Pathway will develop an overview of law enforcement and its basic functions. Our program uses local public service agencies as an extension of the classroom. Upon completion of the career pathway requirements, students will have the basic working knowledge and skills needed to be competitive and highly marketable. Students successfully completing the program requirements will be able to explain the general organization, function, and jurisdiction of policing agencies including the processing and detention, case disposition, case statutes and court procedures. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and application of the fundamentals of officer’s safety when applied to traffic stops, building searches, suspect control, and critical incidents. Students will be able to apply the most frequently used sections of the penal code and other criminal statutes. The student will have the capability to pursue an administration of justice career with continued specialized training. Further post-secondary education is highly recommended.
