Students trained in the Animal Science Pathway will develop an overview of animal science fundamentals and applications. Our program uses an animal farm and local veterinary hospitals as an extension of the classroom. Upon completion of the pathway requirements, students will have the basic working knowledge and skills needed to be competitive and highly marketable. Students successfully completing the program requirements will be able to explain the general organization and functions of animal agriculture, breeds of livestock, the animal industry, animal nutrition and reproduction, and veterinary assistant procedures. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and application of the fundamentals of medical terminology, equipment, and safety in the workplace. The students will have the capability to pursue an animal science career with continued specialized training. Further post-secondary education is highly recommended.
