WELCOME TO YCUSD Expanded Learning Programs (EXLP)
Yuba City Unified School District currently has 13 Expanded Learning Programs. 12 of those are funded via the After-School Education and Safety Program Grant (ASES). The remaining site is funded via Parent Pay. YCUSD’s Expanded Learning Programs are designed to be inclusive of all students attending the regular day program at the 13 sites, including students with academic deficits, English Learners, socioeconomically disadvantaged students and students with disabilities. Approximately 15% of the district’s total K-8 students participate in YCUSD’s Expanded Learning Programs.
All Programs are aligned with the goals and needs of the sites’ regular day program and comprised of the following:
Academic Hour-this time is designed for students to work independently or in small groups to complete any homework they may have. This time is supervised by our EXLP Paraprofessionals.
Supper Program-all students that attend an EXLP are offered a Supper each day, provided by the Districts Nutrition Department. A sample menu can be found here. (add link)
Enrichment Activities-students are introduced to a wide variety of hands-on STEM, Performing Arts, Sports and other academic activities each day in program. Some examples of this curricula are:
Recreation Time-children will be given the opportunity to participate in a physical activity each day in the program. A few examples are:
We also work closely with our Community Partners to offer a wide variety of guest speakers, field trips and other experiences to ensure our students get the full benefits of participating in our EXLP’s.
All YCUSD Expanded Learning Programs are open starting at Regular Day dismissal to 6:00 pm on all student attendance days.
