YCUSD understands that there is a percentage of our families who will be unable to attend any in-person classroom instruction while the threat of COVID-19 is still present.
There are currently 2 different options available:
Home School: some parents may opt to homeschool their children this coming school year in a “private home school setting.” *Please note: this is NOT part of the independent study, home-based study option provided by YCUSD offered at Yuba City Independence Academy, YCIA. Information about this program is listed below.
The District is aware that due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, some parents may opt to homeschool their children this coming school year in a “private home school setting” and not part of the independent study, home-based study option provided through by YCUSD offered at Yuba City Independence Academy, YCIA.
A parent offering or providing private school instruction and who meets the requirements of EC Section 33190 shall file an Affidavit and notify YCUSD of their intent to withdraw their student from public education. Parents/guardians planning to file for an exemption to school at home should read the Frequently Asked Questions, “Schooling at Home." https://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/ps/homeschool.asp. Parents who file the private school affidavit, PSA, to privately educate or "home school" their children must select and provide all curricular, instructional, and other materials, in addition to attendance and grade reporting practices. Private School Affidavit to file with the district if you intend to “home school” your child at home privately can be found here http://www3.cde.ca.gov/psa. The District will then verify the paperwork according to EC Section 48222.
